On November 22, Costa Solutions was proud to gather with thousands of other volunteers to serve over 15,000 Thanksgiving dinners at the annual H-E-B Feast of Sharing in San Antonio.
The Feast of Sharing is the culmination of a year‑round commitment Costa Solutions partner H‑E‑B makes to fighting hunger. The event started in Laredo in 1989 and has grown to serve 250,000 dinners in 33 locations across Texas and in Mexico. In addition to a holiday meal, participants enjoyed music, arts and crafts, and kids’ activities including an appearance by Santa.
“Not everybody is in the same situation and we just kinda want them to forget about their troubles today, come in, join us and we are going to serve them a hot meal,” said Danny Flores with H-E-B. In addition to serving holiday meals prepared on-site, over 15 social services non-profits were on-site to assist members of the community in improving their quality of life.
2016 was the fifth year that Costa Solutions staff participated in this event, we were proud to stand alongside our customers and the United Way in making a stand against hunger. The personal connection to the people who benefit from this event has always made it a meaningful volunteer experience for all our staff members.
