On May 26, Costa’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Kimberly Webb, attended Power of the Purse!, the annual luncheon and purse auction supporting the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) Childcare Scholarship Fund.
WLC of United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County hosted the event at Vista at Valero. Webb was the guest of Monica Bonilla, Vice President at Broadway Bank, where she works in estate settlement specialist in the wealth management division.
Through philanthropic giving, volunteerism and advocacy, the WLC takes a leading role in mobilizing women to positively impact the lives of local families.
Power of the Purse! leverages the collective giving ability of women leaders in the community. The WLC is part of a national network of dedicated women philanthropists who have collectively raised over $1 billion to support United Way’s mission of changing lives.
In San Antonio, WLC is able to provide vital childcare scholarships for parents who are striving to receive their college degrees, pack and deliver food for at-risk elementary students during school breaks, and assist with events and programs that champion the case for school readiness and success.
Webb and Bonilla attended the annual luncheon, purse auction and formal program, which included a speech by 2016 WLC Executive Chair Suzanne Wade, who is also President of San Antonio Food/Drug Division at HEB grocery company. Carey Lohrenz, the first female U.S. Navy F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot, was keynote speaker, and closing remarks and auction results were delivered by co-chair, Jennifer Moriarty.
